To start viewing or making changes to Targets, you first need to navigate to the relevant Learners record. Once there, click on the Targets option on the right hand side.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Viewing/Editing Targets

When you are on the Targets screen, the left hand side of the screen will offer you multiple toggles and filters by which to display the Targets on screen. These include:

OptionDescription
Show Achieved
Determine whether Targets that have been achieved display
Show Abandoned
Determine whether Targets that have been abandoned display
Show In Progress
Determine whether Targets that have not yet been achieved, and their Activate Date has passed the current date
Show Not Started
Determine whether Targets that have not yet been achieved, and their Activate Date has not been reached i.e. the Target is set to start on a future date.

Show By Target

Display the Targets by their main areas i.e. Core, Subject, Care, Therapy. A policy is available to have this as the default view.
Show By Goals
Display the Targets by their associated Long and Medium Term Goals. A policy is available to have this as the default view.
Show By Area
Display the Targets by their associated areas of the Target Cache i.e. Curriculum Area, Skill Area, Skill. A policy is available to have this as the default view.
Ac. Year
Filter Targets where their Activate Date falls into a certain Academic Year. A policy is available to have this default to the current academic year.
C. Area
Filter Targets where their associated Target Cache link falls into a certain Curriculum Area
Goals Cat. Filter Targets via their Goals Category
Active FromFilter Targets from a custom date Range
Active ToFilter Targets to a custom date Range

Underneath the options, a Totals area is displayed to give you the statistical numbers accordingly. This is to ensure these numbers are not assumed when changing the views.

When you have selected the view/options accordingly, locate the Target you wish to look at. You will notice each Target displays the date the Target is due (which will go red if not yet achieved and that date has passed), a colour coded label for its current state (i.e. In Progress, Not Started), the current numerical Score of the Target and if marked as Stretching, an icon of a trophy to demonstrate this.

Once located, click on the text/label of the Target itself and you will be taken to a view for the Targets detail. This is broken down into the following areas/options:

AreaDescription
Status
The current status of the Target i.e. In Progress, Not Started, Achieved.
Curriculum Area / Skill Area / Skill

The associated areas of the Target Cache the Target is linked to.

Primary Medium Term Goal
The main Medium Term Goal the Target is linked to.
Target
The text/label of the Target
Notes
Any notes attached to the Target
Stretching
Indicate if this Target is a stretching Target. For example, if Targets were set each term and the Learner completed all current ones set, adding an additional one is usually classed as a stretching Target i.e. an additional Target given for early/over achievement.
Activate Date
The date you expect the Target to start. Sessions use this date to determine whether it will appear automatically or not.
Completion Due Date
The date you expect the Target to be completed by. This date is used in majority of reporting/progress charts and should be set accordingly. It is typically set to 6 weeks from start, end of a term or end of an academic year.
No. Objectives sent to Session

By default this option is set to 1. When Sessions automatically display Objectives, it looks at this number to determine how many from each Target it should take. So 1 is the default but if you set this to 2, it would take 2 instead (or however many you have stated it to take here)

Baseline Score

If using Scoring, the score assigned before the Target has begun or first started.

Predicted Score
If using Scoring, the score you expect or are aiming to be at when the Target is achieved.
Actual Score
If using Scoring, the score the Learner is currently at. Changing this here or updating it when recording Achievement or Observation, appends to the Scoring history.
Attitude to LearningAllows you to select an Attitude to Learning option, as configured via Standard Values
Gatsby BenchmarkAllows you to associate the Target with a particular Gatsby Benchmark score (This will appear on the Learner's Work Experience page).
Scoring
This area displays a chart of any dates the Actual Score of the Target was updated, so you can see a history of the Scoring.
Progress

This area displays a chart of the Objectives assigned to the Target via a radar chart. It then fills a blue area based on the Number of Achievements recorded against them so far vs the total number required to achieve each one.

Medium Term Goal Links
If the Target is related to more than one Medium Term Goal, you can add the additional links here.
Target Tags
Add tags against the Target to associate them with certain categories outside the scope of Goals and the Target Cache e.g. Functional Skills, Number, Literacy etc. The tags are used in reporting and the available options can be changed in Standard Values.
Target Sub-Scores

Used by a minority, this area lets you define additional Categories and Scores to the Target

Objectives
Lists the Objectives assigned to the Target
Target Actions
Dropdown menu for additional actions/options for the Target

If you make any changes to the Details of the Target, ensure to click the blue Save button at the bottom of the area.

Target Options

When viewing a Targets detail, a green dropdown menu becomes available at the top right of the details labelled Target Actions. This menu gives you the following options:

OptionDescription
Add custom Objective
Add a new individual/personalised Objective to the Target.
Add cache Objective
Add a new Objective from the Target Cache to the Target.
Sort Objectives
The Objectives are listed in a rank order by which they should be completed. This option lets you reorder these by drag/drop.
Achieve Target
Manually achieve the Target (instead of auto-achieving via individual achievements).

Un-Achieve Target

Manually un-achieve the Target (only appears if looking at an Achieved Target).
Internally Verify
Indicate that the Target has been Internally Verified (only appears if looking at an Achieved Target).
Print Summary

Print a summary of the Target and its Objectives.

Print Certificate
Provides a word document using a certificate template. These can then be printed/stored/distributed accordingly (only appears if looking at an Achieved Target).
View Evidence
Changes the display to a timeline view, to view all Achievements/Observations recorded against the Target, and be able to view any images/videos that were attached.
Properties
If you have a relevant permission to view this you can adjust the properties of the Target outside of using the actions (for correcting mistakes).
Change Cache Area
This option will only be available if you created a custom Target and lets you change the associated Target Cache area it is linked to. If the Target was selected from the Target Cache originally it cannot be adjusted.
Archive Target
This option marks the Target as Abandoned.
Un-Archive Target

Manually restore the Archived Target (only appears if looking at an Archived Target).

Audit Log
Display the changes made to the Target

As well as the individual Target options above, you can also re-order the full list of Targets themselves using the blue Options dropdown menu and selecting Sort Targets.

Info:

Once a Target has been archived, you then have the option to fully remove it from the system, useful for when accidental entries/duplicates have been made. To delete a target from the system, once archived if you click on the Target Actions button again, a new option will appear in the dropdown labelled Delete Target. There is also a Restore Target option that will un-archive the target

Viewing/Editing Objectives

Firstly, via the different options/filters as described above, locate the Target that the Objective is listed under. The Objectives will be listed in a table both on the display of all Targets and on the individual Target detail as well. All options listed are available from both areas so it does not matter in which view you are currently looking at.

The table listing the Objectives displays the following:

AreaDescription

Progress

Displays a progress bar based on number of recorded achievements vs how many are required.

Achieved

If the Objective is achieved, the date it was achieved is displayed.

Achs

Displays the number of recorded achievements and how many are required.

Obs

Displays the number of recorded Observations.

Objective
The text/label of the Objective. Displays in green if the Objective has been achieved.

The last column of the table displays a pencil icon. Clicking on this gives you the following options for the Objective:

OptionDescription
Record Achievement
Opens the modal to record Evidence against the Objective which will in turn append the number of achievements towards the total required.
Record Observation
Opens the modal to record Evidence against the Objective which DOES NOT append the number of achievements towards the total required.
Print Evidence Summary
Produces a PDF with a list of recorded Achievements/Observations
View Evidence
Changes the display to a timeline view, to view all Achievements/Observations recorded against the Objective, and be able to view any images/videos that were attached.
Edit Objective

Opens a modal to edit the individual details of the Objective as per when adding Objectives.

Achieve Objective
Manually achieve the Objective
Un-achieve Objective

Manually un-achieve the Objective (only appears for an already Achieved Objective).

Terminate Objective
Manually Archive the Objective
Delete Objective
Remove the Objective entirely. Not recommended if you have recorded any evidence against the Objective.
Objective Symbols
Allows you to assign symbols to the Objective. These are used in a Session Plan print option to provide the Objectives to a Learner in symbol format AND used on the Learner Access platform in the same way but displayed on screen.

Note:
If you change the Actual Score for the target from the window that appears when recording evidence, and the Actual score matches the Predicted score for the target, a prompt appears asking if you would like to achieve the target.

There is a policy that you can enable so that this window only appears for any users that have the 'Student - Target Edit' permission enabled. To turn this on, go to Administration > Policies > Goals and Target Policies > 'Only Show Scores Match Pop when 'Student Target Edit' permission is set for user'.

View Targets for multiple people

As well as being able to see the Targets for the individual, you can actually view the Targets of multiple people at once via the following methods:

OptionDescription
Show selected Individual

Using the blue Options dropdown menu, select Show Student and choose another individual you wish to look at.

Show Learners you teach

Using the blue Options dropdown menu, select Show Students where I am Session Leader. This will list any Learners in any Sessions in the current academic year where you are the Session Leader.

Show Learners by Tutor

Using the blue Options dropdown menu, select Show Students where I am Tutor. This will list any Learners where you have been set as their Tutor on their min record.

Show Learners by Session
For this method, you need to be in a Session Plan. From there, click on the File Menu and select Show All Targets. This will take you to the Target screen and load the people that are in that particular Session.

Whichever method you use above, you can then switch between each Learner and their Targets by clicking on their name in the top right.
