Before reading through this article. Please ensure you have read the previous ones explaining what Goals are used for, and how to set them up via the cache.
To start adding Goals, you first need to navigate to the relevant Learners record. Once there, click on the Goals option on the right hand side.
Goal screen layout and options
On the Goals screen, there are 3 main parts to focus on. These are:
- Filter Options. There are toggle and dropdown options to change the view of the listed Goals and Outcomes.
- Goals/Outcomes. Split by panels, the list view of the Goals and Outcomes.
- Options. The dropdown menu at the top right that provides add and print options.
In order to start adding Goals, click on the Options menu and select Add Long Term Goal(s).
This will change the current display to a panel displaying Goals to be entered. It will be empty by default because you haven't chosen anything to add as yet. To add a Goal to the list, click the blue Add Long Term Goal(s) button. A modal will appear with the following options:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Category | This will only appear if you have selected to use Categories with Goals in System Policies. Selecting this will change the available Goals to choose from. |
Long Term Goal | Either select the relevant Goal from the Cache OR if this Goal is not available or the Goal is individual to the Learner, select '(Custom)'. |
Scoring Group (Optional) | If you wish to use Scoring against Goals, select a relevant scoring group. These are setup in Standard Values -> Integrated Baseline Scoring. |
Click on the blue Add Long Term Goal to finish. This Goal will now be displayed on screen with its relevant properties for you to enter/change:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Goal | The text/label of the Goal. You can directly type and change this. |
Academic Year | Select the relevant Academic Year this Goal will start. |
Ofsted Category | Select the relevant Ofsted Category if applicable. |
Baseline Score (Optional) | If using scoring, select the current score/level. |
Predicted Score (Optional) | If using scoring, select the predicted score/level by the end of the Goal. |
Due Date | Specify the end/due date for this Goal to finish. |
Next, we enter some Medium Term Goals to list underneath our new Long Term Goal. Click on the pencil icon to the right of the Goal text/label, and click on Add Medium Term Goal.
Similarly with Long Term Goal, a modal will appear asking you to select from a dropdown. If you selected from a Cache before, you should see relevant Medium Term Goals listed. If you selected '(Custom)' before, you will only be given the same '(Custom)' option.
Click on the blue Add Medium Term Goal button and it will be added to the screen underneath the relevant Long Term Goal with its relevant properties for you to enter/change:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Medium Term Goal | The text/label of the Goal. You can directly type and change this. |
Academic Year | Select the relevant Academic Year this Goal will start. |
Baseline Score (Optional) | If using scoring, select the current score/level. |
Predicted Score (Optional) | If using scoring, select the predicted score/level by the end of the Goal. |
Due Date | Specify the end/due date for this Goal to finish. |
Continue to add Long/Medium Term Goals as necessary until you are finished. Once done, click on the green Save Long Term Goals/Medium Term Goals button at the bottom. This will add these Goals to this Learner and you will be returned back to the Goals list view.
