Setting up Goal Cache

The Goal Cache is used to create a list of readily available Long and Medium Term Goals to attach to a Learner. It is recommended to set these up prior to adding any Goals against a Learner.

You should also determine if you will use Categories to associate Long Term Goals to, for example Occupational, Functional Skills, Vocational etc. You can switch whether these are used in Administration -> Policies.

Accessing the Cache

To get to the Cache, navigate to Administration -> Standard Values. Under the Student/Learner Values area, click on Long and Medium Term Goals.

This will produce a modal that is split into two tabs, Basic and Categories. If you plan to use Categories, please follow the 'Adding Goals to Categories', otherwise please follow the 'Adding Basic Goals'. 

Adding Basic Goals

Adding Goals without Categories is done via the Basic tab. 

Start by adding an LTG using the New Long Term Goal button. Enter the description for the Goal and click Save. The new Goal will then appear under the Basic tab accordingly.

To add an MTG to this, click on New Medium Term Goal button. Enter the description for the Goal, select the Long Term Goal it relates to and click Save.

To edit either type of Goal, click on the icon.

To delete a Goal, use the edit icon above first, then click on Remove.

Adding Goals to Categories

If you cannot see the Categories tab, ensure you have the Policy enabled as mentioned at the beginning of this article.

Start by adding a Category using the New LTG Category button. As well as entering the title/label of the Category, there are two additional options:

To finish, click Save.

To add Goals to the Category, first click on the  icon.

Underneath, the Categories list, it will display the Goals already entered against the Category. 

To add an LTG click the New Long Term Goal button. Enter the description of the Goal and similar to the Category above, specify a maximum number of Medium Term Goals that can be added underneath when adding to a Learner.

To add an MTG, click the New Medium Term Goal button. Enter the description of the Goal and click Save.

You can use the up/down arrow icons in all 3 lists to determine the Order the Category/Goals are displayed in dropdowns.

To edit a Goal, click the  icon.

To delete a Goal, use the edit icon above first, then click on Remove.
