On Databridge, permissions are used to determine what a staff member can and can't do on the system. Staff are organised into Security Groups, and permissions are then assigned to those security groups.
1. First navigate to Security > Permissions.
2. The first thing shown on this screen is a list of all the existing security groups, each with a corresponding Trash Icon, Pencil Icon, and Notepad Icon:
- The Trash Icon is used to delete a security group.
- The Pencil Icon is used to change the name of a security group
- The Notepad Icon is used to display and make any changes to the staff within a group, or the group's permissions.
3. Clicking the notepad icon will populate the boxes on the right of the screen, showing which members of staff are part of that security group, and what permissions the group has.
4. Within the Users box, clicking on the Trash icon next to a User's name will remove them from that security group. Alternatively, clicking Add New User will give a a list of all Staff Members - Clicking the checkbox next to any Staff Name(s), then clicking Add will add them to the security group.
5. From the Permissions Box, you can see every permission that this security group has. Next to each permission in the list their are two icons:
- Clicking the Eye Icon shows a list of all users on the system that have that permission - This is useful as the permission may be shared across multiple groups.
- Clicking the Trash icon will remove the permission from this security group.
Clicking the Add New Permissions button will open up a dropdown list to choose from to be added to the group. Clicking Add Multiple Permissions will open up the box below, showing a list of all permissions and their description. Click the + icon next to the permissions you wish to add, which will move it across to the right (clicking the - icon will remove it).
Finally, click the blue Add button in the bottom right to assign these permissions to the security group.
6. From the Permissions Screen, selecting a User from the drop down menu at the top will just display the security groups that they are in, which is useful for auditing security groups.
7. Another useful tool is the ability to see all users who have a certain permission. Click Options >Permission Descriptions. This will give a list of all permissions and a brief description. Clicking the Eye Icon next to any of these will display a list of all users with that permission.
