Timetable Scales

Timetable scales are used in Databridge to control the visual style of a timetable including:

  • Start Time e.g. 9:00am
  • Number of Days to display e.g. Monday - Friday
  • Column label/sizes e.g. Session 1 (9:00-10:00), Session 2 (10:30-12:00), Lunch (12:00-13:00), etc

There will be at least one timetable scale already included in Databridge which you can modify accordingly. You can if required, add as many additional ones as you want, which helps in creating scales for different user groups in your organisation.

Accessing the Timetable Scales screen

To access Timetable Scales, you need to first navigate to Administration -> Standard Values.

Within the Timetable Management Values section, select Timetable Scales.

On the left hand side of the screen, you will see a list of scales that already exist in Databridge:

Editing a Timetable Scale

To edit a Scale, click on the notepad icon. If you are adding a new one, use the 'Add Scale' button.

This will then display the Scale details on the right hand side. From there, you set the fields as required:

Field NameDescription
NameThe descriptive name of the scale e.g. College, Class 1, 24/7 etc.
Start DayThe weekday you want the scale to start e.g. Monday.

No. of DaysThe number of days the scale should show for. If the Start Day was Monday and you entered 4 here, the timetable would only show Monday - Thursday.
Start TimeThe start time to show the scale from e.g. 09:00.
No. of HoursThe number of hours the scale will display. For example, if Start Time set to 09:00 and you entered 7 here, the timetable would only show between 09:00-16:00.
Default ScaleTick this to make this scale the default one shown across the system.

Tip
There can only be one scale selected as the default, however, you can specify the default scale for an individual as well on the Student/Staff screens respectively

Setting the Scale Blocks / Times

Underneath the scale settings, you will see a list of Times. These times are the blocks/columns that will appear on the Timetable and you add/edit/delete these accordingly to match the scale you need.

By default, a block is automatically added for each hour of the day e.g. 00:00, 01:00, 02:00 etc all the way to 23:00. This means by default the scale is broken down into 1 hour blocks, and the label for each block is the same as the time e.g. 08:00.

To change a block, click the notepad icon. This will display the following modal:

From this modal, you can adjust the settings of the block accordingly:

FieldDescription
ScaleThe start time of the scale. For example we could change this example from 09:00 to 08:45.
LabelAnything entered here will be shown on the label for the block instead of the time. If you enter a label as <Blank>, no label will be shown in the block.
Break StartA start time of the break (if any) during this block.
Break EndAn end time of the break (if any) during this block.

Note: You only need to enter break times if one exists. If you do enter break times, a bar will show on the scale for this block to represent the break.

Modify the blocks as required to create your scale. Here is an example setup:

This would produce a scale that would contain the following blocks:

  • 09:00 - 10:15 - Session 1
  • 10:15 - 10:45 - Tea Break
  • 10:45 - 12:00 - Session 2
  • 12:00 - 13:00 - Lunch
  • 13:00 - 14:20 - Session 3
  • 14:20 - 14:45 - (No Label)
  • 14:45 - 16:00 - Session 4

And here is an example of that on-screen:
