Learning Styles are used to give your staff a better indication of how a learner learns. In order to configure Learning Styles on your system you will need the permission 'Admin - Learning Styles Management'. In order to view the Learning Styles page for a learner, you will need the permission 'Student - Learning Styles.
Information: There is a policy that you can enable/disable that will automatically bring up the Learning Styles for all learners within a session when accessing a Session Plan. To find this policy, go to Administration > Policies > Browser Policies and you'll find the checkbox marked 'Popup Learning Styles on Sessions'.
Configuring Learning Style Categories
To configure the different categories of Learning Styles on your system, go to Administration > Standard Values > Education Management Values > 'Learning Style Categories'.
This will open up a window where you can then see all existing Learning Style Categories listed, as well as the option to add new ones. To add a new Learning Style Category, click on the blue Add Value button and input the title in the textbox that appears, and then click the green Save button.
The new category will now be available when adding a new Learning Style.
Configuring Learning Styles
To configure Learning Styles on your system, go to Administration > Standard Values > Education Management Values > 'Learning Style Management'.
This will take you to the Learning Styles Management page where you can view all existing Learning Styles, add new ones, and configure the settings for them.
To add a new Learning Style, click on 'Add Entry' on the right side of the screen. This will bring up a window where you can then input the statement for the Learning Style in the Statement field, and then specify the settings as well as the category for this learning style.
Note: The statement field when setting up Learning Styles works as a prefix. To work with the structure of Learning Styles, the statement could be something like "does not like". This way, when you go to apply the Learning Styles to a learner record, the statement would read "(Learner's Name) does not like ..." followed by the details you input here
There are four settings options for Learning Styles:

Always | If this box is ticked, this Learning Style will automatically be applied when a new learner is added |
Master | If this box is ticked, this Learning Style can be printed and reported separately (on reports such as Session Plans) |
Baseline | If this box is ticked, this Learning Style will be printed on the Baseline Assessment |
ILP/Info Sheet | If this box is ticked, this Learning Style will be printed on the ILP and the Info Sheet |
Once the Learning Style has been added, it will appear in the list.
Next to each Learning Style entry, there are 5 icons:
Use these two icons to move a Learning Style up or down the list on the page
Use this icon to edit the details for the Learning Style
Deletes the Learning Entry
Clicking this icon will copy the Learning Style to all Learners. (It won't duplicate for any learners that already have this Learning Style set on their profile)
Applying Learning Styles to a Learner Profile
To add a Learning Style to a learner's profile, go on to their record, and then in the options on the right, click on Learning Styles.
This will take you to the Learning Styles page for the learner. The categories of any Learning Styles already applied will appear on the page, with plus symbol next to them. Clicking on the plus symbol will expand the category to reveal the Learning Styles applied to the learner underneath.
To add a new Learning Style, click on Add Learning Style from the list on the right. Select the relevant statement from the dropdown, and then fill in the Details box underneath.
Click the blue Save button to add the entry to the learner record.
To edit the details for an existing Learning Style, click on the notepad icon. To delete a Learning style for a learner, click on the trashcan icon.
You can also print the Learning Styles for a learner by clicking Print Learning Styles. This will bring up a window where you can then select which Learning Styles you wish to print, as well as opt to include the DoB, Profile Photo, Address and/or the Staff Links for the learner.
