Adding Employers for Work Experience

Before you can create any Work Experience records for Learners, you must first create the Companies/Employers that will be associated with the record.

This is done in Administration -> Standard Values.

Create a Work Experience type

The Companies/Employers you need to setup will be part of General Addresses. Because the General Address area can consist of many different types of contacts for example Doctors, Transport/Taxi companies etc, we need to create a type (if one does not exist already) to group just the Work Experience ones together.

In Standard Values, under the General Values area, click on General Address Types. If a suitable type does not exist, click the Add Address Type button underneath the list. Enter the title for the General Address Type, for example Work Experience Placement or Employer and click the green Save button.

Now you can create the Companies/Employers accordingly via General Addresses. See the General Address article under Configuration -> Standard Values on this help centre if you are new to setting these up.

For any you create make sure you set the Address Type field to the type you have setup as above.

Setting the Work Experience global type

In the section above we created the type needed and set this to any Employers/Companies in General Addresses as required. At the moment though Databridge doesn't know that the type you created is intended for Work Experience as it was just an entered text field.

Whilst still in Standard Values, under the Defaults area, click on System Settings. The properties in this area define global settings used throughout Databridge, for example which Status text means a Learner is current.

Within this modal, change the Work Experience Address Type to the type you set in the section above. Ensure to click the Save button afterwards.

Now when adding Work Experience records, Databridge will only load General Addresses that have this type to select from.
