This article will discuss setting up pay grades, spines and spine points.
Setting Up Paygrades
In any staff record, go to File > HR and it will show a window with two tabs
Tab | Details |
---|---|
Spines | This is where you can add all the different spines and spine points. |
Pay grades | In here you can add/edit multiple pay grades. It will also show you which staff members on are on the pay grades. |
First, go to the Pay grade tab and use the Add Pay Grade button to create a new pay grade which will appear in the pay grade table. You can then click on a pay grade row in the table to edit if required.
Tip When you click on a pay grade, you will be able to see which staff members are set to that pay grade in the Staff in this Pay Grade table
Adding / Editing Spines and Spine Points
Once paygrades are added, go to the Spines tab and use the Add Spine button, enter the relevant details to create a new Spine against a pay grade. You can also select a spine using the drop-down option.
Below are the options when adding or editing the spine details.
Field | Details |
---|---|
Spine Name | Enter a name for the spine. |
Details | This textbox is just for information purposes. |
Pay Grade | Select a pay grade that the spine needs to be set against. |
When a spine is selected or created, options for adding and editing spine points will show below the spine. To add a new spine point against the selected spine you can use the Add Spine Point button or you can click on a row in the Spine Points table to edit one.
Below are the options for adding or editing spine point details.
Field | Details |
---|---|
Spine Point | You can enter the spine point number. |
Hourly Rate | You can enter the hourly rate in decimal format. |
Salary | You can enter the salary details in decimal format. |
Tip When editing spine points, the updated details will automatically update all staff job records which have that spine point set
Adding / Editing Pay grade, Spines and Spine Points To Job Records
Go to a staff record > Work tab > Job Details section and then select a job in the table by clicking on the row or using the Add Job Title button.
Then, scroll down to the Spine Points section and then select a paygrade, a spine set against that paygrade and then select the appropriate spine point and save the details.

Tip If no spines are showing after selecting paygrade, then you must ensure that paygrade is set against the spine which you can do by editing the spine
